DO YOUR WATCHES HAVE ANY WARRANTY ON THEM?
Yes of course! We believe in the quality of our products and stand behind them, therefore offering a 12 month limited warranty on any defects or malfunctions. Please note that this does not include accidental damage to the watch (eg. physical damage, cracks, scratches, scrapes, water damage etc). If you damage your watch we definitely do appreciate honesty and we will try and work with you.
ARE WOOD IN PHILOSOPHY WATCHES WATERPROOF?
While our watches are splash proof and able to withstand normal wear they should definitely not be submerged in water eg. taken for a swim, or bath/shower etc. It is not recommended as it may compromise the integrity of both the wood and the internal movement itself. Excessive moisture can result in the diminished flexibility of the wood watch bands. If this should happen by mistake please allow the watch to dry for a couple days.
HOW TO CARE FOR MY WOOD WATCH?
With proper care, your wood watch can be worn for many years to come.
As our watches are made with natural genuine wood. Please keep in mind you will need to care for your watch like any other wood product. To care for your wood watch, do not store in an area that exposes it to extremely high or low temperatures, or overly humid conditions. Sudden changes in temperature and humidity are the worst for wood products. This means if you leave your watch in a car on hot sunny days, the high temperature has the ability to swell the wood and cause it to crack. This goes the same for particularly cold days or nights. The extreme cold will shrink the wood, putting pressure against the glass and pins which can cause breakage at those points.
As mentioned previously our watches are splash proof and can take light contact with water but should not be submerged in water ever. Therefore, humidity control is important to maintaining your watch in prime condition. Too much and the wood will absorb the water and swell, too little and it will dry out the wood and shrink. Swelling and shrinking increase the possibility of cracking at the time and in the future.
When you are not wearing your watch be sure that it is inside, either its original packaging OR in a watch or jewelry box.
Additionally, like any other type of wood product. You can also make sure that your wood watch is conditioned, protecting the wood from the elements. We recommend Tung Oil or Lemon oil both of which can be found at hardware stores, or online.
Use a soft cloth, pour 1 teaspoon of your chosen oil on to the cloth and then use the cloth over the surface of the wood, buffing slightly. Do not use too much. This will aid in keeping your watch clean and conditioned and will increase the luster.
HOW CAN I ADJUST THE WATCH TO FIT MY WRIST?
To have your Wood In Philosophy watch resized, you can do one of the following:
- RECOMMENDED: Our team can size your watch for you prior to shipment. Simply visit the page of the watch you are interested in buying and choose
- Take your Wood In Philosophy watch to your preferred jeweller or watch repair shop to have them size it for you. We do not recommend sizing it yourself unless you have done this before with other wooden watches. Keep in mind wood is a more delicate material to steel and can be damaged much more easily.
DO YOU PROVIDE CUSTOM ENGRAVING?
Yes, all of our watches are engravable. We personally engrave each wood watch in our small design studio in Vancouver to ensure that it looks perfect. Engravings are important to us as we know how important and meaningful they are to you. For further details on personalization please CLICK HERE or go to our Personalization & Engraving Process Page.
